It does the job when nothing else will do and worth it for that alone. Niggles would be excessive costs of blades and youhaveto be very carful to use it as described. Dust production is nothingli,e disc cutters but still significant.

Have looked at buying one of these for a while but was not sure if they could cut through concrete blocks so have persevered with disc cutters or concrete chainsaws to cut out openings in masonry, a recent job where I could not use water for my chainsaw due to floating floors and disc cutters inside a new house pushed me into purchasing an Arbotech cutter, it is expensive but you can use it for so many jobs, obviously taking out mortar ( or 3 to 1 mix sand and cement in this case ) around bricks, it cuts through dense concrete blocks, cuts plaster boards just like a Fein tool and cutting timber, I find I use it a lot of the time. There are a few drawbacks 1/ it still produces a lot of dust but nowhere near as much as a disc cutter, 2/ the vibration coming through the handle can become a problem if used for prolonged periods of time 3/ the cost of blades is excessive. Even these should not put you off buying one it really is that good.

The saw is exactly as described and it makes removing bricks a breeze. Overall it's a v good saw if a little pricey. The only problem I have with it is the screws that hold the blades can loosen quite quickly and you have to be careful of that

I read a fair few reviews before purchasing some bad saying its expensive and doesn't remove the mortar properly some good saying it removes bricks perfectly which is what it is designed for. I don't agree with any of the negative points other than it is a bit expensive for what it actually is. It does remove bricks perfectly and very easily. The Plunge cut blades remove vertical mortar joints too making it an ideal brickwork saw.

Good 110v saw for use on sites delivered next day

The AS170 is decent tool and found it less dusty than the old milwaukee super saw i have had for years. But it is pretty pricey although it has a good amount of different types of blades for different applications. And blades it comes with does most applications u would need anyway
