Simpsons Strong-Tie Solid Joist Notch Reinforcement Kit - SNRK75

It's common practice to cut a hole in the tops of the floor joists so that pipes and electrical cables can pass through the void between an upper floor and ceiling below it - particularly in bathrooms. However, doing so weakens the joist - which is why we have developed a bracket to put strength and stiffness back into the floor assembly.

How it Works

The bracket features a flexible leg that can be bent enough to allow the bracket to be positioned around the notch - even if the pipes/cables have already been installed - which can then be bent back into place and the bracket fastened to the floor joist.
