The Stihl FS550 strimmers and brushcutters are invaluable for mowing tough grass or scrub and clearing forest stands. Stihl have included a number of features designed to make the operator's life easier. An anti-vibration system, with rubber buffers in the engine compertment, significantly reduces the vibration levels to make work more comfortable and safer, by negating the risk intense vibrations can pose to the user's health. For easy starting the Stihl FS550 strimmers and brushcutters are fitted with a manual fuel pump, which helps make starting more reliable even after breaks in operation, a decompression valve, which reduces the effort required to start the engine, and ElastoStart which acts as a shock absorber, sparing the user's muscles and joints from the compression shock that results from starting the engine. The long life filter system with compensator and self cleaning effect considerably extends the intervals between changes for optimum working time. These powerful clearing saws have a bike handle design which makes them particularly suited to mowing large areas. Used in conjunction with a harness they are easy to guide, providing smooth performance, without causing fatigue. The Stihl FS550 strimmers and brushcutters are supplied with a harness with soft padding to make work more comfortable, particularly when working for prolonged periods. Attached to the handle is a multi-function control which houses all of the engine controls. Thumb-operated, this control enables safe use without the need for the operator to remove their hand from the handle. Supplied with goggles to protect against UV rays and flying particles. Available in a Mowing model with an AutoCut mowing head or Sawing model with a metal chisel tooth blade.
