What is 4-MIX?
The Stihl 4-MIX engine combines the advantages of both a 2 and 4-stroke engine. Conventional 4-stroke engines have separate systems for fuel and engine lubricant (a sump) the Stihl 4-MIX engine, is lubricated by the fuel mixture, which facilitates extremely low-residue combustion. Heavy parts such as an oil pump, oil sump and oil filter, as well as regular oil changes, are a thing of the past.
4-MIX is environmentally friendly, it outdoes the strict European EU 11 emissions standards. It is easy to service, compact and light, emits a less obtrusive noise and delivers higher performance than a standard 2-stroke engine.
